Bradley Crawford Unaffiliated Contraband Dealer Twenty Eight Leo
| BACKGROUND
Brad Crawford grew up in middle America, living a fairly mundane existence until the day he went away to college. He'd always felt destined for rather more than his hometown had offered him, and school in the big city turned out to be precisely what he'd been looking for. Only he hadn't known it. The change of scenery gave him what he couldn't possibly have imagined—an environment entirely unique to itself—life on the college campus. He was suddenly made very aware of students, all of them incredibly stressed and desperate for something, anything that would provide them with an easy escape from the workload.
Rather than making friends, Crawford set to networking and quickly established himself as the go-to man for everything, from cheat sheets to sleeping pills. It was a comfortable position, one he used to pay for the remainder of his education. Perhaps the most important lesson he learned in college was how to make money from the rich and stupid.
His connections served him immeasurably well at the age of twenty-one, when it was brought to his attention that the government had turned to drastic measures in fighting crime. With the help of some connections he'd made along the way, Crawford passed himself off as a candidate for genetic experimentation. The procedure, while still new, turned out with reasonable success, and Crawford walked away six months later with an uncanny ability for seeing the future.
That, and an uncanny tendency towards splitting headaches, but that part seemed less important at the time.
In some ways, the move to Reggio Calabria seemed inevitable. He called upon the connections he'd made in college once again to delete his files from the government. He spent four or five years building on his reputation and successes in America, but quickly grew bored with the limited options afforded him. Italy was someplace new, somewhere to put down roots and expand his reach. There was even a power struggle in play between two mafia families; a more perfect ecosystem for contraband traders could not have been formed if he'd asked for it. Crawford thrived during the Monacello rise to power, supporting both sides and neither, and tucking away a tidy profit from providing them with the means to exterminate one another.
He moved into a large, comfortable apartment in an area with little strong influence from either family, and a peculiar bar on the corner.
